Sliding Doors usually get busted on 2011-2017 Honda Odysseys due to inferior quality of the cables used.
The weakest part of the entire Mitsuba system is the cables.
They are:
- Made in Japan, non-stainless (corrodes faster in humid and winter conditions)
- Vinyl coated (gets worn due to debris and dust in the door channels)
- Rated at 150lbs linear tension
Our cables are:
- Made in Japan, stainless
- Polyurethane coated
- Rated at 300lbs linear tension
- Softer than the originals (easier to install on the pulley unlike the green Home Depot cable used on 3rd gen repairs.)
When you buy the service at 9, uninstall your motor, take the cables out from the door and send us with housings for repair.
Here is the flowchart:
- At the buyer's expense, ship the motor to us and tell us which side (Driver or Passenger) is needed.
- We will install the new set of cables on the pulley (as long as the pulley is in OK shape)
- We will test the motor and proper cable movement
- Ship the motor back to you shipment on us.
In addition we also provide the following:
- Parts only sale, a set of two cables either driver or passenger side: with 6 page instructions for DIYers.
- Motor Mail-In cable installation service: 9 new cables installed in the motor and sent back.
- Full service on our CA location: 0 per door, all trim and door work is done professionally.
*** Please note that our service only for the cables, in some rare cases the grooved pulley in the mechanism gets frayed as well as the motor, if that should be the case we suggest buying a new or used assembly and get the cables replaced to prevent premature sliding door failure.
