    Description

CHINESE PORCELAIN VASE Footed Characters Dragons Gold Leaf Hand Decorated Red Yellow Blue
A Chinese porcelain container exquisitely decorated with period characters, foo dog creatures and Chinese dragons, with ornamental removable lid.
From top to bottom, this porcelain container from China is decorated with fanciful characters. From the traditional Chinese characters that are the container's feet, to the foo dogs done in relief on the sides, to the gold hue dragons near the lip, this piece of porcelain work is filled with myth and legend. Even the removable top is done in a dramatic representation of a Chinese pagoda in gold.
A pagoda is the general term in the English language for a tiered tower with multiple eaves common in Nepal, India, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Burma and other parts of Asia. Some pagodas are used as Taoist houses of worship. Most pagodas were built to have a religious function, most commonly Buddhist, and were often located in or near temples. This term may refer to other religious structures in some countries. The modern pagoda is an evolution of the Ancient Nepal stupa, a tomb-like structure where sacred relics could be kept safe and venerated. The architectural structure of the stupa has spread across Asia, taking on many diverse forms as details specific to different regions are incorporated into the overall design.
This is a large container, measuring about 12-1/2" tall. Good condition with not cracks or
    damage
that we can see. One of the children's head is a bit dirty on the back.
